The purpose of the Foundation is to raise funds to enhance the education of the students at the Minnesota State Academy for the Blind and to help them achieve their full potential.
This residential school in Faribault, Minn., accepts students from all of Minnesota who are blind or visually impaired. The admission process involves parents, the local school district, and a social worker. Some of the students have multiple challenges.
Enhancement support by the Foundation is in response to a "Dare to Dream" list developed by those working directly with the students. This support has taken many forms, such as:
| |
- Funds toward athletic and academic events
- Transportation to allow participation with schools for the blind in other states
- Adaptive technology in labs and the classroom
- Equipment for teaching independent living skills
- Playground equipment
... and much more.
We have established with the Minnesota Foundation a permanent charitable endowment fund. This Minnesota State Academy for the Blind Foundation Fund is a sound option for those who want their gifts to exist in perpetuity.
